Alwyn Uys is a professional ultra para-athlete who was a student at Stellenbosch University and a budding rugby star for Maties. He was involved in a horrific car accident at the age of twenty-four that paralysed him from the chest down. This crushed all his hopes for ever having a normal life again. He went through the darkest of valleys, battling depression and overcoming suicidal thoughts that nearly took his life. Four years later, Alwyn became the first South African Paraplegic to complete an Ironman, and in December of 2020, he became the first Paraplegic in the world to swim the Robben Island Crossing. He also uses his time and influence to inspire people and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ on his YouTube channel apart from speaking at events and churches in person.
